Sone’s series of white marble sculptures of ordinary highway interchanges elevate these banal spaces through their transformation into precious material and formal presentation.

Yukata Sone sculpts models to scale in foam core, and then ships them to China where they are carved in marble. The craftsmanship and careful detail of these works requires close viewing and ultimately a reconsideration of these common and often unnoticed landscapes.
